questions

questions,
answered.

The things founders usually ask before a first call. If yours isn't here, ask us - we reply within one business day.

the basics

what is a virtual CTO?

A virtual CTO is a senior technology leader who works with your business on a fractional basis, instead of as a full-time hire. We sit in the CTO seat for you: setting the technology roadmap, making the architecture and tooling calls, managing developers and vendors, and owning security and risk - then explaining it in plain language so you can make the business decisions.

who is frameworx for?

Founders and owner-managed businesses in South Africa who need senior technology help before they can justify a full technology team - from a founder building on tools they don't fully understand, to an established business running systems nobody documented.

how much does it cost?

A virtual CTO is roughly a quarter of the cost of a full-time CTO hire. Everything else is scoped to what you actually need, and we put a costed plan in front of you before any work starts, so you know the numbers first. The first call is no obligation.

where are you based?

Cape Town, South Africa. We work with founders and businesses across the country.

how does it work?

Four steps:

  • consult - a no-obligation, no-pitch call to understand where you are and what's slowing you down.
  • map - we frame the technology stack you need and a clear, costed plan to get there.
  • build - sites, cloud, email and infrastructure, set up properly and shipped.
  • run - ongoing leadership, hosting and support, so it keeps working as you grow.

working with us

what happens on the first call?

A no-obligation, no-pitch conversation about where you are and what's slowing you down. We'll tell you, honestly, how we would approach it, and whether frameworx is the right fit.

how quickly will you reply?

Within one business day. Use the contact page and we'll set up a call.

do I need a full-time CTO instead?

Most founders don't need one yet. They need someone senior to own the hard technology decisions, keep the build honest and stop expensive mistakes before they happen. That's the seat we fill - without the recruiter, the equity or a six-month search.

can you work with my existing developers or IT provider?

Yes. As your virtual CTO we manage the developers and agencies you already use - hiring briefs, technical interviews and vendor management. And our cloud and workplace advice stands on its own: you're free to hand the plan to your existing IT provider or run it in-house.

are you independent?

Yes. We hold no vendor commissions and we don't resell software, so the recommendation is only ever the recommendation. You buy your own licences directly, at your own price.

cloud, microsoft 365 and AI

do you only work with Microsoft?

No. We stay independent on where your business should run - the right cloud fits your workload, budget and risk. For the tools your team uses every day we specialise in Microsoft 365, and we'll say so when it isn't the right answer.

will you implement what you recommend?

If you want us to. Implementation - identity and access, email security hardening, migrations and the tooling your team will actually use - is available, but it's scoped and quoted separately, after the advice, and never assumed.

is AI right for my business?

Maybe - and we'll tell you when it isn't. We map your workflows to find the few places AI genuinely pays off, run small measurable pilots before you commit budget, and put guardrails around data, cost and accuracy.

websites, hosting, email and domains

who owns my domain?

You do. Domains are registered and held in your name - never ours - so there is no vendor lock-in. We also track renewals so a domain never lapses by accident.

what does your hosting include?

Fully managed hosting: fast infrastructure with a global CDN in front, SSL and security hardening, regular restorable backups, uptime and performance monitoring, and platform and security updates - with one point of contact who knows your setup.

can I update my website myself?

Yes. We build sites so you can edit copy and pages without breaking the design. Or we can keep running it for you after launch - your choice.

will my emails reach inboxes?

We configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail is trusted and lands in inboxes rather than spam folders, and so your domain is protected from spoofing.

your information

what happens to my answers in "know where you stand"?

They stay in your browser until you enter your email address and press send. We then use them to write your assessment and talk to you about it. They aren't sold, shared or used to build a mailing list. The detail is in our privacy policy.

how do I get my information deleted?

Email info@frameworx.co.za and we'll do it - no forms. Nicholas Stander is our Information Officer under POPIA, and the privacy policy explains your other rights.

do you help with POPIA?

As part of our cloud and workplace consulting we look at where your information lives, who can reach it, and what the Act expects of you, and the "know where you stand" assessment shows you where you sit on POPIA. That is technology advice, not legal advice.

let's talk

didn't find your question?

Ask us directly. We'll tell you, honestly, how we'd approach it - no obligation, no jargon.
